City block in central Kristiansand

This project introduces a vibrant new city block in central Kristiansand, blending the character of historic wooden streets with contemporary, sustainable architecture. With approx. 7,650 m² BRA, the development brings together restaurants, retail, offices and inviting public spaces into one coherent urban destination.

The new buildings reinterpret Kristiansand’s traditional block structure with warm materials, deep window reveals and refined brickwork. Green terraces and planted roofs soften the architecture and provide high-quality outdoor spaces for users.

Generous storefronts and open corners activate the street level, creating opportunities for cafés, restaurants and boutique retail. The quarter is designed to encourage people to stop, meet and spend time—extending the life of the surrounding streets.

Upper floors offer flexible and efficient office environments with excellent daylight, large windows and a calm, refined material palette. These spaces support modern ways of working while remaining closely connected to the energy of the city.

At the heart of the block lies a new courtyard: a quiet, lush escape with planting, seating and intimate pockets for social life. Through small passages and open connections, the courtyard becomes an accessible public space that integrates seamlessly into the city’s pedestrian network.
